Canada Express Entry STEM Program

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada( IRCC ) recently announced the introduction of new selection categories for Express Entry candidates. These groups are designed to invite individuals with particular occupations or work experience in high – demand fields.
Healthcare workers participated in the first-ever category-based attract this week, and IRCC plans to extend invitations to more medical professionals in a week. Furthermore, they are preparing for the first round of category – based draws for STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ) workers in the following week.
The selection of these groups was based on labour market details, including forecasts, as well as feedback from partners across the country. These new categories aim to help Canada’s financial objectives and promote francophone emigration outside of Quebec.
The new groups are:
Care occupations
Jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math( STEM )
Trade-related careers
Transport activities
Agriculture and agricultural – meals occupations
European – language proficiency
All these categories are considered in – demand and essential to keeping Canada’s business and workers push strong. However, two choice groups stand out for the number of qualified occupations, cited CIC News
Medical occupations lead in demand
The small birthrate and aging population of Canada make healthcare and labor shortages difficult. Nine million Canadians may change 65 by 2030, increasing demand on an already strained health care system. Prioritizing immigration applicants with medical experience could help fill the 144,500 open positions in the healthcare and social assistance sector, which, as of March 2023( Statistics Canada ), account for 17 % of all vacant positions.
STEM professions
Canada’s demand for STEM occupations, especially in the Information, Communications, and Technology ( ICT ) industry, is growing. ICT income reached$ 240 billion in 2021, as per report. Canada is a leading gateway for AI, with 1, 032 AI and machine learning businesses. However, the retreat level and rapid technological advancements are creating a skills gap in the labour force, causing some companies to hire less skilled candidates, which hampers company growth.
